How was your Pitch@Palace experience?
GODWIN BENSON It was an experience of a lifetime. I met very resourceful Entrepreneurs and Investors, who have been very valuable to growing my business.
NEV HYMAN I enjoyed every second of the unique experience, and know how privileged I am to have been invited in the first place.
JOSE PEREZ It was a great experience! I had never talked in front of so many people, it was a great challenge but really fun.
SHUAI MEI Pitch@Palace China offered a valuable opportunity to communicate with fellow participants and to share advice and ideas with each other. It was definitely a memorable experience for me and our team.
What has happened to your business since winning?
GB Tuteria also won the Africa Prize by the Royal Academy of Engineering, as well as being a finalist at MIT’s Inclusion Innovation Challenge. We have more than tripled our revenues and created jobs for over 1,450 teachers in Nigeria.
ALISHA GEARY I’ve gained a trusted mentor as well as a group of people intent on helping me succeed in gaining much needed funding for my business.
MANSOUR AL KAABI Our initial plan for a slow roll-out has quickly changed to one where we hope to expand nationwide within months.
SHUAI MEI The clinical trials are underway at the moment, and hopefully our exoskeletons will be licensed by the China Food and Drug Administration by the end of this year.
IVAN LOH Pet Widget products are now distributed in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, and have just started retailing in stores across the United States, Panama, and Colombia.
JOSE ANTONIO NUNO PEREZ A few minutes after my pitch, I started receiving dozens of emails from people in the crowd. They were offering help in different ways, asking for information about franchises, or proposing connections with people that could be extremely valuable in the future.
What markets does your business want to connect to?
AG I’d like to connect to the fashion, art and global markets. My business is based on creating fashion with art with a social purpose, which benefits global markets.
MA For our app to be successful we need contracts with all pharmacies in the UAE and promotional support from the Government and medical community.
SM We are aiming at the European market, which has huge potential.
What are your ambitions for your business in 12 months’ time?
GB To have expanded operations in three other African countries, and have impacted at least 15,000 teachers.
JP To receive at least 100,000 monthly visitors to our website, open our first flagship store in Mexico City, and start selling in the USA and Europe.
NH For the NevEarth Fund to be capitalised so delivery of shelter to the disadvantaged can happen ASAP. I can’t wait to see more joy on the faces of those who are impacted by this initiative. This has been a life changing experience for my team and me.
What advice would you give to future participants?
AG To enter even if you don’t know what Pitch@Palace is or if your business will qualify. You never know what could happen or what could come from entering.
NH Surround yourself with likeminded, passionate, forward thinking and ethical people. This is your foundation and conduit to success.
JP Take your time to prepare, and try to connect with the audience. It’s a great opportunity to spread the word about your business.
IL Make as many friends as possible, because entrepreneurship is tough, and it helps a great deal to have people you can turn to for guidance.
SM To join Pitch@Palace as it connects people from around the world and I highly recommend future participants to bring along their good ideas – together we can change the world.
